After his mother passes away, a guy goes to her home and finds an old photo of her with a boy who looks like him. After deciding to track down the boy, he discovers a startling secret about his mother’s history.
When his mother passed away, Ben Dixon was resolved to sell his old Texas ranch, despite the fact that most people have sentimental attachments to their childhood house and are typically reluctant to do so. In order to find buyers, he contacted an agency a week after the burial. To his amazement, he quickly discovered a couple interested in purchasing the house.
That week, Ben and his spouse, Cassandra, made the trip from New York to meet with the prospective purchasers. Cassandra happened found one of Mr. Franklin’s childhood albums while they were touring the house with the agent.
She yelled, “Hey, Ben.” “Observe this. When you were little, you were very cute! I wonder whether there are any more albums in this collection. Even so, honey, I would still suggest that you think again before selling the house. After all, it contains your memories.
Ben gave a shrug. “Cassandra, it’s not like I have a lot of pleasant memories here. After I moved out, I didn’t talk to Mom again. I could never get her, you know. I begged her repeatedly, but she never told me about my father. At baseball games, I used to sit by myself in a corner and ponder about my father while I watched other kids with their dads.
“Oh, Ben,” Cassandra said, embracing him. She had her reasons, I’m sure. She loved you, you knew that. She reared you alone, gave you a solid education, and assisted you in becoming a lawyer. Ben, I’m sure being a single mother wasn’t easy for her. If she didn’t love you, she wouldn’t have done all of that.
“Yes, whatever.”
“Mr. and Mrs. Dixon, excuse me,” Mr. Franklin said. “We have visitors here. Should we?
“Of course, we’re coming,” Cassandra grinned. She then looked at Ben. “Remember that there’s no need to rush, Ben. Refusing to sell the house is still an option. In the end, it is up to you to decide.
“Cassandra, I’m going to sell the house. Believe me, I don’t want to remain standing here for another minute. Regarding this record, well… I wish she had put her son before these pointless activities. Simply replace it. That is not necessary.
“No, Ben. This is mine to keep! Our kids ought to learn how attractive their father was when he was younger.
“All right, do as you please!” Ben gave a shrug and turned to go.
Before meeting the new customers, Cassandra made a last touch-up and kept the album in her purse. They discussed the final price and took a thorough tour of the house during their one-hour appointment. Ben and Cassandra made the decision to go to a restaurant for dinner after the conference was over.
Ben urged her to go ahead and he would park the car and accompany her when they got there. Unaware that she had left her purse in their vehicle, Cassandra got out and departed. Fortunately, after he parked the car, Ben saw it and took it off her seat.
Ben noticed the CD that had suddenly fallen out of her purse. Cassandra, you really took it? Really? “You’re still a kid!” he said, picking it up. However, his curiosity overcame him and he began looking through the pictures. For a little moment, he was unaware that tears were streaming down his face as he looked through all of the pictures of him and his mother.
When he saw that something had fallen from the record into the floor, he used his hand to brush them off and started repackaging the album into Cassandra’s pocketbook. He picked it up to replace it in the album since it looked like one of the pictures, but upon closer inspection, he was astounded by what he saw.
He and his mother were photographed with an unidentified boy who bore a striking resemblance to him! “What’s that fish? Who is he? Ben pondered. He turned the photograph over and saw the words “Ben and Ronnie, 1986” written in cursive.
“Who is Ronnie? How did Mom get to know him? Is he?Absolutely not! He is not able to be my brother. Ben couldn’t understand. He rushed over to the café and showed Cassandra the photo. She was also taken aback.
“Ben, Jesus Christ! He really does resemble your brother! No one would contest that he is!
“I understand that, but why didn’t my mother tell me anything about him if he’s truly
Ben, slow down. We could try to find him. Although it could be difficult, it is not impossible.
“Well, Cassandra, I’m at a loss. I’d like to know the identity of this young guy. I must locate him.
After leaving the restaurant that day, Ben attempted to look for Ronnie on Facebook but was unsuccessful. He didn’t resemble any of the Ronnie-named individuals at all. He then returned to his mother’s home and looked through her closet to get the hospital paperwork from the birthing hospital.
He ultimately located them, albeit it took some time. Unfortunately, he was unable to see the hospital name clearly because the papers had become yellow. Fortunately, he was able to locate the hospital online by making some educated estimates about the faded letters.
When he called the hospital administration, they informed him that it would take some time for them to respond because most of the staff had changed since Mrs. Dixon’s delivery. Ben chose to visit the hospital because he could not stand it any longer.
Because it was important, he pleaded with a nurse there to allow him to look over the documents in their storeroom once. The nurse was unable to refuse him when he began to beg in that way. She let him look for an hour.
Ben looked through the documents frantically until he found his mother’s file. However, he started crying uncontrollably as he read it.
According to the allegations, his mother gave birth to two boys but abandoned one of them at the hospital. The child was subsequently taken to a hospital-run neurological clinic. Ben was astounded by his sight! He had a sibling named Ronnie! After obtaining the address of the institution from the file, he made the decision to see Ronnie.
But when he saw Ronnie when he got there, he started crying uncontrollably. On the bed, surrounded by syringes and medical supplies, was a perfect duplicate of him. There, a nurse discovered that Ronnie had several congenital defects in his brain, which led to memory problems and immature behavior patterns.
“Are you familiar with the woman who abandoned him here? He was sent here from a hospital, after all. Ben questioned her.
“All right,” the nurse said. “Our eldest nurse can respond to that.”
Ben learned that their mother had left Ronnie behind when she contacted nurse Julie. “When this boy arrived, I was present. One night his mother came looking for him. I spotted her hiding and staring at him after she somehow figured out the address from the hospital. I believe you were also present. I shot a photo for her when she took you two by a neighboring lake. Both of you were rather young. She first claimed to be a relative before revealing to me that she was actually his mother.
It was discovered that Mrs. Dixon had left Ronnie behind since she was a single mother and couldn’t afford to keep two kids after her boyfriend broke up with her, especially because she knew Ronnie had special needs and would require more care.
Ben made the decision to stay with Ronnie after finding out this information. After bringing him home and telling Cassandra the full tale, she instantly agreed to Ben’s plea that they take care of him for the rest of their lives.
Although Ben was undoubtedly angry that his mother had left Ronnie behind, the nurse’s remarks were still echoing in his mind. “She did it because she was dumped by her boyfriend.”
Maybe that’s why Mom didn’t tell me about Ron, our dad. However, he reassured his brother, who was clapping his hands like a little kid, that he wouldn’t be alone for long. “Your brother is present. And until death separates us, he will take care of you.
