During his recent performance in Manchester, England, the iconic musician Bruce Springsteen took a moment to pause the music and convey a significant political message. While invigorating a full audience on his British tour, Springsteen directed attention to the escalating tensions in the United States, openly criticizing the current administration under the President.

Footage of Springsteen’s comments rapidly gained traction on social media, eliciting a strong reaction from Trump. In response, the American Federation of Musicians released a statement supporting Springsteen—alongside fellow artist Taylor Swift—affirming their right to express their views.

The legendary musician Bruce Springsteen commenced his eagerly awaited “Land of Hope & Dreams” with a passionate denunciation of Trump, labeling him as “corrupt, incompetent, and treasonous.”

The American Federation of Musicians Supports Bruce Springsteen and Taylor Swift

Following Bruce Springsteen’s criticism of the U.S. government at a concert in the UK, Donald Trump responded on social media, labeling him as “overrated” and “a pushy, obnoxious jerk,” while also criticizing his endorsement of Joe Biden. Trump has also previously directed his ire at Taylor Swift, having once tweeted, “Since I said ‘I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT,’ she’s no longer ‘HOT.’”

In reaction, the American Federation of Musicians provided a robust defense. President Tino Gagliardi remarked, “We will not remain silent while two of our members are targeted by the President. Springsteen and Swift are not just talented artists but also global icons.” He emphasized the union’s backing for their freedom of expression.

In spite of the backlash, Swift and Springsteen continue to be among the top-selling artists of all time, having sold more than 400 million albums collectively.
