Rosie O’Donnell Relocates to Ireland Due to Political Concerns
Rosie O’Donnell has fulfilled her promise to leave the United States if Donald Trump regained power, disclosing in a recent TikTok video that she moved to Ireland on January 15 with her 12-year-old daughter, Dakota.
“It’s been quite wonderful, I must say,” the 62-year-old comedian remarked, characterizing the Irish people as “loving, kind, and welcoming.” She is in the process of applying for Irish citizenship, referencing her grandparents’ Irish heritage.
O’Donnell clarified that relocating abroad was not something she had ever envisioned, but she believed it was the best choice for both herself and her daughter. “You know, I’m happy. Clay is happy. I miss my other children. I miss my friends,” she expressed. “I’m attempting to establish a home here in this beautiful country.”
She referenced the political environment in the United States, especially the policies implemented during Donald Trump’s initial term, as a significant factor influencing her decision. “It was both personally difficult and heartbreaking,” she remarked.
Now residing in Dublin, O’Donnell mentions that she has been warmly welcomed by the local community and is adapting to her new surroundings. While she appreciates the change, she conveyed feelings of sadness about being separated from her loved ones.
She ended her message with a plea for unity and justice in the United States, stating, “When it is safe for all citizens to enjoy equal rights in America, that will be the time we will contemplate returning… I am relying on you to act justly. And deep down, we all understand what that entails.”
