The Emerald Belles, a dynamic dance troupe from Southlake, Texas, have been dazzling audiences for nearly 30 years. Known as a “super-sized dance team,” they are famous for their tradition of excellence and stunning performances.
These talented young women have won countless awards and competed in numerous prestigious dance events. One of their most notable victories came at the 2017 Crowd Pleasers Dance Area Competition, where they took home the first-place trophy with an unforgettable routine called ‘High Kick.’
As the name suggests, the routine focused on the high-kick technique, but it was much more than just a simple display of skill. Performing to the classic hit ‘Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)’ by the Eurythmics, the Emerald Belles—80 members strong—started off by showcasing their own individual freestyle movements.
This unexpected start added a special touch to their performance, as it made the moment when their movements suddenly synced up even more mesmerizing.
The girls gathered in the center of the floor, effortlessly performing a series of jaw-dropping high kicks that made the audience erupt in applause. But the magic didn’t stop there. As the routine progressed, the Belles split off into smaller groups, creating optical illusions with their movements. At times, it looked as if the floor itself was moving beneath them, leaving the crowd in complete awe.
The reactions from the crowd were impossible to ignore—cheers, screams, and claps filled the air as they watched the performance unfold. From the very first step, the Emerald Belles had the audience completely hooked, and it was no surprise when they won the competition.
Their hypnotic performance only added to their already impressive legacy. These girls are well-known across the United States, having performed on cruise ships, at Walt Disney World, and even on Kelly Clarkson’s television show.
But that’s not all. The Emerald Belles also took the stage on America’s Got Talent, entering season 14 of the show with a high-kick routine that was as impressive as their previous performances. Though they were eliminated in the quarterfinals, their audition still gave fans another chance to see their incredible skill. “You were cohesive and collectively beautiful,” said judge Julianne Hough, clearly impressed by the group’s perfect synchronization and stunning execution.
